Sulawesi plants for Sweden

Hej,

I might have a possibility to get my hands on aquatic plants from Sulawesi and would like to know if there is an interest for these plants here in Sweden ? For example:

Since the handling costs and customs is so high, it would only be worth getting them if I know that people are actually interested in getting their hands on these rarities. :wink:

JenL: Har du saltvattens akvarium också? För de olika svamparna funkar ju bara i saltvatten annars är dom häftiga :slight_smile:

Those are freshwater sponges :slight_smile: And yes, I was thinking of Aristocratama. But only plants, with living animals it is too much hassle with health certificates and such.

Jag är helt klart intresserad av både svamparna och de mindre växterna.

Skulle vara väldigt intressant med lite info runt hur man håller svampen vid liv. Gissningsvis växer den under ganska specifika förutsättningar.

Jag har haft Chara från sulawesi ,verkar som om den behövde väldigt stark ljus i mitt akvarium
nytill växten blev inte alls snygg .
För övrigt behöver man diverse tillstånd,även för växter,om dom kommer från “tredje land” dvs
länder utanför EU.

Alright. Right now I am collecting information on what those plants need for water/light. As Bjarne said already, it seems they need lots of light judging from the underwater photos from those lakes. It is very bright down there. It would be a good idea to have a well-working Sulawesi tank for them already I guess. I will also check if they are using any pesticides or fertilizers at Aristocratama and from what areas they are collecting the plants.

Then I am contacting customs about import permissions.

I will also look into the swamp issue.

As for the snails… ( :mrgreen: @ AMDAdesign). You buy them in bags and there are between 300-500 snails per bag. I think that is a bit too much for us :wink:

The moss comes in 1 kg bags. The swamps (FRESHWATER MINI SPONGE) comes 1 per bag. Max of 36 per box. The FRESHWATER WOOD/STONE/CYLINDER SPONGE comes also 1 per bag, they are between 8-15 cm and there is a max of 12 bags per box. The Sponges need to be ordered, they do not have them in their warehouse.

Once I have new information, I will let you know.
